This magazine is called Car and its about cars and people reviewing them. It is mainly aimed at the male audience. The fonts and font colours show this. For example the font colours for cover lines stand out because of the background colour used.The title is very bold to make it stand out and its in a very simple colour to attract the male audience. Some of the font colours are the same as the picture colour this also makes it stand out. The other cover line font colours include white and black. The background is grey with a blue, purple and red stripes going down the middle. All of the fonts used are pretty much the same which is pretty rare for a magazine front cover.





This magazine is called GoodFood and it is about food and how to cook and make it. The font colours show that it is mainly aimed at the female audience. This is shown in the background colours of a light blue and pink. Not many men would normally be interested in these colours. There are many different types of fonts used as cover lines and titles, but they are all in the same colour except for two or three. The colours used are mainly white and some red. The title isnt as bold as the car magazine but it still stands out but it is more feminine because of the font.

This magazine is called Empire and it is about films and reviews of them. The fonts and font colour show that it is aimed at the male audience. The font colours used are red and white. This stand out a lot with a background of black. The black background shows that it is aimed at the male audience. All of the fonts used are not massively different but they still stand out and have an impact on the reader and stand out.

Colour Connotations in Magazines

Different colours can convey different meanings or connotations to the viewer. 














Sports
For a sports magazine I would choose the colours red, orange and yellow. I chose these colours because red attracts people who are interested in physical energy, stamina and stability. I would use yellow because it attracts people who are interested in personal power and creativity. I chose orange because it attracts people who are interested in stimulated creativity and productivity. I would use red as a background and yellow and orange for cover lines to make it stand out.

Gaming
For a gaming magazine I would choose the colours green, yellow and purple. I chose green because it attracts people who are interested in communication and being social. I chose yellow because it attracts people who are interested in having fun and creativity. I chose purple because it attracts people who are interested in imagination and being artistic. I would have purple as a background as purple and yellow and green for cover lines.

Ponies
For a ponies magazine i would choose the colours green, blue, yellow and purple. I would use green because it attracts people who are interested in love. I chose blue because it attracts people who are interested in peace, love and truth. I chose yellow because it attracts people who are interested in fun and creativity. I chose purple because it attracts people who are interested in imagination. I would have purple as  the background and green, blue and yellow for cover lines.

This is my magazine front cover design. In my final design i will increase the size of my main image and have it over lay the title.

Modern: I chose this font for modern because of it being bold and simple.  

Kids: I chose this font for kids because of the little people on top of the letters. 

Sport: I chose this font for sport because of it being in italic and looking like its moving or running.

Masculine: I chose this font for masculine because of it looking sporty and something that you would see on the front of a man based magazine.

Feminine: I chose this font for feminine because there are many serifs on each letter in shapes of butterfly's and flowers, something that a female would be more interested in then men.

Sophisticated: I chose this font for sophisticated because of it being italic and many serifs. Something you would find on the more sophisticated newspapers like the times and telegraph. 

Bold: I chose this font for bold because of it being crazy and it standing out compared to most of the other fonts.

History: I chose this font for history because it has many serifs and  looks like something that would be found on a old victorian book or newspaper.

5) The font used for the magazine title is very bold and modern, its also very simple because of the letters being all in capitals. 

6) The title is aimed mainly at females because of the colour choice, fewer men would pick up a magazine with pink and white coloured font instead of darker colours like blue and black.

7) The main cover line is the "Cosmos Body revolution". I can tell this because the font is a lot larger than the rest. If you was to pick it up of a shelf, it would be the first cover line you would look at.

8) Different colours are used on the front cover because if it was to be in one colour it would be boring and dull.

9) Fonts are also something that if it was to all be the same it be boring.

10) I would change some of the fonts and font colours to make it look more interesting. The front cover only uses 3 different colours which makes it seem dull. 

This magazine cover is symmetrical because the image and the magazine can be folded in half and it would look like a mirrored image. 

This magazine cover is asymmetrical because there is a large picture on the right and smaller text on the right
